What is the future of trade shows?

Today’s archive is now available for download as PDF: What-is-the-future-of-trade-shows

Today on #ExpoChat Dana Freker Doody (@TheExpoGroup) will be moderating our chat on the future of trade shows.

ExpoChat topic for Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013

This chat will be based on the recently released report Scenarios of the Future: Convention Exhibits and Trade Show 2016 (link will take you to the download)- a project commissioned by the ASAE Foundation, Exhibition Industry Foundation, Freeman, Gaylord Entertainment, and PCMA Education.

While it is not required reading to participate in the chat it will help…and it’s something you’ll want to read anyway so why not go for it now. It’s not terribly long and will take you just 15-20 minutes to read through it.

Chat Questions

Q1 What do you think are key principles of the trade show in 2016?
Q2 Do you believe your org can handle the future with current methods of doing business?
Q3 How do you stay Digitally Alert, assessing changes and implementing response?
Q4 Do you “backcast,” envision the future and work your way back to present?
Q5 How often do you think about Big Data? Are researchers emphasizing too much, not enough?
Q6 What is the future of tradeshows? Is our model viable?
Q7 Did anything in particular strike you about this report?

As we are talking about the future…and Mel Brooks just released his box set of hillarity…why not entertain yourself with the 2000 Year Old Man
