What can a sinking show do to stay afloat?

The #ExpoChat archive is now available for download as a PDF – Expochat-archive-192013

On Monday ExpoChatter Scott Lee (@SLee_CTSMCMECMP) posted a link to this article CES 2013: Giant Tech Show Losing Steam? with the comment “You’re kidding me!”

Whether JOANNA STERN is correct in that article remains to be seen as CES is starting today and runs through Saturday. January 11th. What I find interesting is, while Joanna Stern thinks the show is losing steam her employer ABC still dedicates much of its website to news coming out of the show. Seems to me hardly something to worry about…

But it is a great topic for discussion. What should a show do when it loses some of its anchor exhibitors. What steps should they take to recover. Are there ways to re-think the show?

Also, we will be spending some time early in our chat, at the suggestion of chatters last week, to share your reading lists. Please take a moment or two to think about what books you’ve read that you feel have helped you in your career.

Should you be doing some simulation training? How would your team support each other? How would your attendees, sponsors and exhibitors support the show? Something to think about.
